Samba dance of Brazil.


Samba is  one of the most popular dance. Samba is a lively, rhythmical dance of Brazilian origin in 2/4 time danced under the Samba music. The dance simply follows the beat of the music and can go from average pace to very fast. Men dance with the whole foot on the ground while women, often wearing heels, dance just on the balls of the foot. Professionals may change the steps slightly, taking 4 steps per measure instead of 3, and often add various arm movements depending on the mood of the music.Samba has a very specific rhythm, highlighted to its best by characteristic Brazilian musical instruments. Famous Indian actress Suchitra Sen is no more.


Suchitra Sen is the first Bengali actress to have garnered an international award at the Moscow Film Festival in 1962, breathed her last on January 17, 2014  in Kolkata. Sen passed away following a cardiac arrest at 8:25 am.
Suchitra Sen was born on April 6, 1931 in Pabna, Bangladesh as Roma Dasgupta. She was an actress, known for Aandhi(1975), Saptapadi (1963) and Mamta(1966). She was married to Dibanath Sen. In a career spanning over 25 years Sen worked in more than 60 movies, for which she was a contender for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2005. The reclusive actor reportedly refused to go to New Delhi and declined to receive the award personally – that deprived her of the prestigious title. She formed an unbeatable romantic pair with Bengali cinema legend Uttam Kumar. The duo gave a string of memorable hits such as 'Harano Sur' (1957), 'Agnipariksha' (1954),'Saptapadi' (1961), 'Grihadaha' (1967), 'Indrani' (1958), 'Sagarika' (1956), 'Bipasha' (1962), 'Kamal Lata' (1969), 'Alo Amar Alo' (1972), 'Har Mana Har' (1972) and 'Priyo Bandhabi' (1975).

Sen acted in 52 Bengali and seven Hindi films. 'Champakali', with Bharat Bhushan, 'Sarhhaad' and 'Bommbai Ka Babu' with Dev Anand and 'Mamta' were some of her other notable Hindi films. She earned both national and international acclaim for her performances as the quintessential romantic heroine be it in the role.
 After her 1978 movie 'Pronoy Pasha' with Soumitra Chatterjee flopped, Sen quietly left the limelight and even allegedly refused the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2005 preferring not to make a public appearance.
